Everything you need to know about gold jewelry

Distinctive and beautiful, exceptionally valuable and historically fascinating, gold is unmatched by any other precious metal.

Gold has always been considered a symbol of prosperity and leaders, of appreciation and generosity. Shaped into coins, wedding rings or jewelry with luxurious detail, up to crowns for kings and queens. Gold is for the victors. Gold is for the best. But above all, gold transformed into jewelry is considered a symbol of love.

Masterfully crafted, gold creates the most beautiful jewelry. And it has incredibly balanced structural characteristics that make it resistant to corrosion, strong enough to wear every day, and malleable enough to be shaped into beautiful jewelry.

All ABULIL jewelry is made only of solid gold.

Why? Because we value the purity of gold, we believe in the value of a gold piece of jewelry, and we want you to enjoy the piece you choose for many years. For a lifetime.

ABULIL jewelry is made to keep up with your life, made to be worn DAILY - at the office, in the city, shopping or on vacation, on special occasions or in everyday activities.

Strong, beautiful, gentle and authentic... just like you.

Gold jewelry as an investment

Gold jewelry is sought after for its beauty — but there are also tangible reasons that make it a worthy investment for you. Fine solid gold jewelry can be a meaningful purchase that is appropriate for a special event, engagement celebration, or special occasion. Its durability and ability to be worn almost anytime make it a valuable investment for many years to come. And any solid gold jewelry can be passed down as a family heirloom for generations to come.

Beyond the sentimental and symbolic value, there is also tangible capital in fine jewelry. Think of it as a “wearable investment” — gold itself has always increased in value, despite market volatility. Gold can be an investment in many ways: in your own style, in the future, or in generations to come.

Types of gold jewelry

There are many types of "gold jewelry" - some use the term a bit too generously. The only true gold jewelry is solid and filled gold, from 10 karats and up.

The karat number represents the proportion of real gold in the mixture of metals from which the jewelry is made. This mixture is called an alloy. Solid gold must be mixed with other metals because pure solid gold would be too soft to be worn as jewelry. The value of your piece depends on the amount of pure solid gold in the jewelry.

The bottom line: more karats = more solid gold in the jewelry = higher value = more expensive.

The alternative to solid gold: gold-plated jewelry. The jewelry is covered with a thin layer of gold, painted over another base metal — usually brass. So yes, while it's technically gold on the outside, this layer is prone to wear and tear — leading to discoloration and sometimes even allergic skin reactions.

Other categories of gold-plated jewelry are:

- Gold Vermeil: gold plating over sterling silver

- Gold-filled: A thicker layer of plating. This type of plating often lasts longer, but will eventually wear off.

All solid gold jewelry is hypoallergenic - but if you plan on wearing it every day, the more gold the better. For example, 18-karat gold is a popular choice for engagement rings because it offers the warm, luxurious look of pure gold, but with a slightly warmer hue than 14-karat gold.

A higher gold content is also appropriate in association with the most valuable gemstone: diamonds.

How do you know that the jewelry is made of real gold?

By law, all solid gold jewelry must be marked, either with the purity of the gold in karats or with certain codes established by the legislation of the respective country. In Romania, the most commonly found are 14K gold - marked 585, and 18K - marked 750. This marking is also added to chains, usually on the clasp. Always be careful of gold jewelry that does not have a marking, as this usually indicates that it is not made of real gold.

Can gold jewelry come into contact with water?

Short answer: yes. Solid gold jewelry is completely waterproof because there is no layer or plating that can wear away. You can definitely swim with your gold jewelry in the salty ocean or pool, you can even keep it in the shower or during physical exercise.

Can gold jewelry tarnish or scratch?

As a soft metal, gold is susceptible to bending and has the potential to scratch. That's why it's important to consider your lifestyle and needs when choosing each piece. While jewelry with a lower karat gold content, such as 10K, will be more durable and scratch-resistant than 18K, it will also contain less pure gold, making it less valuable.

ABULIL jewelry is between 14K and 18K, making it a wise and advantageous investment for your style, your collection, and for generations to come.
